My larger body of work aims to look at people, their relationships with their built environments, and the intimacy with which they go about their daily lives. In this work I also look at myself, because being around contemporary dance has influenced my practice as a visual artist, particularly the ways in which I view the body and movement.
This series looks at how I have been able to observe the moving body, in its everyday performativity and in choreographed works. I do this to find connections between the two spaces, and to find for myself a way to move and dance with photographs.
The video is part of the work that was incubated at Gati Dance Forum's Indent Lab in 2018; and was developed over a year with support and engagement of peers, from within the lab and outside of it. Dancing With Photographs is published along with the works by participants of the lab in Indent Journals 2019 issue.
